La Monte Young, Terry Riley and Don Cherry were disciples of Pandit Pran Nath, who also taught Charlemagne Palestine and Henry Flynt.

« Singing Om » is part of the Original soundtrack George Harrison partly recorded in Bombay in 1968 for the movie « Wonderwall ».

Angus MacLise was a member of La Monte Young’s Theater of Eternal Music and the first drummer of the Velvet Underground before being kind-of fired by Lou Reed.

Asha Bosle is the best known Bollywood playback singer (She’s the one referred to by Cornershop’s hit « Brimful of Asha »). Kronos Quartet recently recorded a Nonesuch CD with her, reinterpreting some of her most famous « filmi » hits.

Sangeeta Bandyopadhyay is a vocalist of Hindustani (North-Indian) classical music. In the past years, she has received training of Indore Gharana from Pandit Kamal Bandyopadhyay widely known as the most authoritative disciple of Ustad Amir Khan, one of the pillars of Indian Classical vocalist music. She’s singing on three tracks of William Parker’s « Double Sunrise Over Neptune ».

Ananda Shankar is Pandit Ravi Shankar’s nephew.

Don Cherry & Latif Khan recorded « Music / Sangam » in 1978, which was recently re-released by Heavenly Sweetness. Latif Khan regularly teaches tablas in Paris.

Madame Coltrane was a devotee of the Indian guru Sathya Sai Baba. In 1972, Coltrane moved to California, where she established the Vedantic Center. By the late 1970s she had changed her name to Turiyasangitananda.
